In Memoriam – Founding Member Robert ‘Bob’ Childs

Robert “Bob” Fletcher Childs, Jr. passed away on March 27, 2018.  Bob was a founding member of the Wiggins Childs Pantazis Fisher & Goldfarb law firm for almost 40 years.  He was passionate about his family, his clients, his work, and the University of Alabama.  Bob devoted his practice to defending the civil rights of workers and individuals throughout the United States.  He was instrumental in building the law firm from inception, into the national civil rights advocacy organization that it is today.

Bob was not just a great lawyer though.  He was one of the biggest fans of the Crimson Tide, even among a sea of ardent supporters.  In addition to receiving his undergraduate and legal degrees from the University of Alabama, Bob played linebacker for Coach Bear Bryant from 1966-1968.  He was, most notably, a member of undefeated 1966 team known for “the Missing Ring.”  The team, despite not being awarded the national championship, was described by Coach Bear Bryant as “the greatest football team I’ve ever been associated with and the greatest college football team I’ve ever seen.”

Bob was a leader and a legend in the legal community.  His achievements are many and his legacy will carry on, as he has left an indelible mark on the legal profession in Alabama and his fellow lawyers.  Wiggins Childs Pantazis Fisher & Goldfarb mourns his loss and will miss his leadership and friendship.

There will be a graveside service only on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama. The address for the cemetery is
